Druid form auto-attacks now use equipped weapon DPS
Blizzard confirmed that feeds Cat and auto-attacks. Each form keeps its own attack speed.

Description
In the September 30 deep dive, Blizzard described Cat, Bear and Dire Bear forms. Their melee auto-attack DPS matches the equipped weapon’s DPS. Attack speed changes to one or 2.5 seconds by form. Abilities based on weapon damage use these values too. Weapon enchants and proc effects also work in forms.
Effect
A weapon change can matter while shapeshifted. For physical damage, compare alongside useful stats and effects. Equal DPS alone does not make two items equal.
How to reproduce it
- Compare the current and new weapons’ DPS, stats and effects. Do not choose by weapon speed alone, because the form sets attack speed.
- Test auto-attacks on the same target before and after changing weapons in Cat or . Check enchant procs separately when relevant.
- Do not apply this result to every Druid spell. Blizzard specified auto-attacks and abilities that use weapon damage.
What players report
- Radon, Blizzard forum
Asks whether the rule uses item DPS alone or also Attack Power. The thread has no independent measurement.
