Blizzard announced that now correctly increases pet damage. Old measurements need repeating after the update. Before the update: Archive backfill: on October 4, a Hunter compared the pet panel and combat log before and after taking five points in . The player expected a 15% increase but saw none. Relogging and stabling the pet did not help. On October 6, a community tracker maintainer wrote 'Fixed in next build' without naming the build. On October 8, a different level-28 Hunter reported the same average pet DPS of 33 before and after investing in both and . That test does not isolate either talent. A separate review of issue #228 says grants the correct pet critical chance even when the panel does not show it. Hawk damage after the promised fix has not been retested.
Effect
Do not judge these talents from the pet panel or average DPS without controlling for critical hits. For a clean check, compare ordinary pet hits against same-level targets before and after alone. A promised next-build fix does not establish that the live beta has it.
How to reproduce it
- Use a Hunter with a pet and access to . The sources do not establish its exact minimum player level. The original test used 5/5. The fresh forum test was at level 28.
- Record normal pet hits on matched targets and the pet-panel damage, excluding critical hits and temporary buffs. Invest only in , then repeat.
- Include your build number and test date. Changing at the same time cannot isolate . The pet-panel critical chance may be visually wrong under according to issue #228.
Further conditions
- The Forever spell-card headline and trait-rank values disagree. The 15% for 5/5 comes from the report and talent rank data. Do not treat the card's 20% headline as a verified 5/5 effect.
