Earlier updates

A developer reports Stormwind water fixed in70338. remain unfixed.

Added a short direct player test on build 1.60.1.70245: Secondary Lighting looks fixed at the Crossroads, while still appear intermittently.

Description

On October 7, a Blizzard developer said build 1.60.1.70245 fixed a separate conflict between Secondary Lighting and Raid graphics settings. They said they were cautiously optimistic about fixing unusual shadows in a build later this week. That is a plan, not a released fix. Another player then reported in Wetlands, Hillsbrad Foothills, Stormwind and Elwynn Forest. The player did not state their client build, so that report alone does not prove the defect persists on every Mac running 70245. At 15:55 MSK, another player explicitly named build 1.60.1.70245. In a short Crossroads test, Secondary Lighting appeared fixed, but still appeared intermittently. The player had not tested a full in-game day. On October10 at06:51UTC (09:51Moscow), Rommax said build70338 should fix Stormwind water. Tinted colors remain unfixed. The developer has reliable reproduction steps and hopes to deploy a fix next week. This is a plan, not a promised date. On October 14-15, players again reported a green tint. One specified a MacBook Pro M4 Pro, 48 GB RAM, macOS 27.0.1 and overall graphics quality 7. /console gxrestart helped another author, but a later participant saw green patches again. New reports omit builds. The command restarts the graphics engine and may temporarily clear one author’s symptom, but does not confirm a fix.

Effect

On Mac, do not treat the Secondary Lighting fix as a fix for all tinted-shadow problems. If shadows obstruct your view, distinguish that symptom from an FPS drop in your report.

How to reproduce it

  1. Check your client build and record your Mac model, macOS version, location, in-game time and shadow settings.
  2. If you see green or other , capture a screenshot and compare the same spot after changing time or location. Do not assume changing settings is a reliable fix.
  3. Add these details to the original Blizzard thread. After the next build, repeat the check at the same spot and compare the result.
