Night Elf stays a wisp after leaving a battleground

One player repeatedly saw remain on a living character after a battleground. A community tracker maintainer reopened the report over a possible broader code issue.

Status: Issue open after the temporary fix was reconsidered. No final fix date has been given.

Description

This fills an archive gap. On October 6, a player reported that remained on a living Night Elf after a battleground. The player says the character kept the wisp appearance and a 75% movement and swim speed bonus until the next death. The Forever spell record describes a 75% movement bonus only while dead. AidanZMoon, a community tracker maintainer, first mentioned a temporary fix for October 15, then reopened the report because that fix might hide a systemic code issue. On October 7, the reporter said the described sequence had worked every time for them.

Effect

If a Night Elf remains a wisp after a battleground, include your exact steps and client build in a report. October 15 is not a confirmed fix date.

How to reproduce it

  1. On a Night Elf, die in a battleground and release spirit. Cancel the Spirit Healer's automatic resurrection timer.
  2. Log out while dead. Log back in after the battleground ends. The reporter waited about 30 minutes.
  3. If the character returns alive in wisp form, record your build and check movement and swim speed. The reporter says the effect persists in combat and ends with the next death. We found no independent repeat test.
