Players report full XP and loot from kills made only by a pet
Two reports describe XP without player damage, the second adds loot. Build 70245 has not been tested, and the loot report was closed as a duplicate.
Status: The main issue is open, the second was closed as a duplicate. Blizzard has not confirmed a fix. Behavior in 1.60.1.70245 is unknown.
Description
Archive backfill: on September 18, a player reported receiving full experience from an enemy killed only by their pet. On October 2, another player separately described the same result and added that the enemy could be looted. That issue was closed as a duplicate of the first. Commenters linked the concern to the restored , which lets a pet choose enemies on its own. They did not show a new test on build 1.60.1.70245. Blizzard has not called this a confirmed bug or an approved leveling method.
Effect
Rewards from pet-only kills may differ from what players expect. If you compare leveling methods or file a report, check XP and loot on one enemy and include your build. Old reports do not establish the current rule.

How to reproduce it
- Use a Hunter or Warlock with a pet and choose one enemy that normally grants the character XP. Record your level, XP before the fight and client build. The reports do not state a minimum pet level for this behavior.
- Have the pet defeat the enemy without character attacks or spells. A single kill is enough to check the report, do not automate repeated kills.
- Compare XP before and after and check whether the enemy can be looted. The authors reported full XP and available loot, but no 70245 retest exists. If it repeats, add your build and screenshots to the original issue.
