Prayer of Healing misses a target at range edge and may fail on pets
A video report shows a missed heal at the 40-yard edge. The author also reports a pet problem, although Blizzard said the spell should heal pets.
Status: On October 13, AidanZMoon described the range edge behavior as intended and claimed a heal prediction fix in the next build. This is a community tracker comment, with unverified Blizzard affiliation. Fixed and Not A Bug refer to different parts of the report. The current build 70338 fix and pet behavior have not been retested.

Description
On October 7 at 19:03 MSK, a player opened issue #266 with video tests of in the Forever beta. The database lists a 40-yard target range and a 40-yard heal radius around the target. In the first test, the Priest cast near maximum range and received no healing although the UI showed the target in range. Moving closer let the heal land. The author also reports that a party member behind a wall does not receive healing even if the primary target is reachable. In a second video, casting directly on a pet ended with an Invalid target error. The report says a pet was also not healed when its owner was in another party. Blizzard had said should heal pets in the selected party. This is one report without a build number.
Effect
Selecting a reachable target does not guarantee healing for each ally. Check party positions and pet health separately when healing another party in a raid.
How to reproduce it
- A level-30 Priest learns . For a test, use at least two members of the same party with missing health.
- Keep one member selected. The Priest moves close to 40 yards away and casts. Compare the target's health with the Priest's. In the video, the caster received no heal at the edge but did after moving closer.
- For a separate test, place another party member behind a wall relative to the selected target. Record whether that member is healed.
- When healing a raid party with a Hunter pet, select the pet and check for an Invalid target error. Then select its owner in another party and check the pet's health after the cast. These are the conditions in the author's second video.
- Until build 1.60.1.70245 has an independent test, keep the party closer to the selected target and check actual health changes for players and pets.
Further conditions
- The author suggests that cast range uses hitbox edges while the heal radius uses the target center. This is the author's hypothesis, not a confirmed server rule.
- The same issue describes inaccurate heal prediction in the UI. That needs a separate check.
Video
Video by the issue author. No build number or independent test is given.
