Bug: targets can block attacks from behind at close range
Blizzard acknowledges a melee positioning bug. Until fixed, step back slightly while staying behind the target.

Status: Known in build 1.60.1.70170. No fix announced. Workaround: do not stand too close.
Description
In the new build, enemies may parry or block if the player stands too close. Blizzard lists it as a known issue and suggests a workaround: move a little farther from the target.
Effect
The bug distorts melee damage and hit tests. Adjusting distance helps separate it from an ordinary miss.
How to reproduce it
- Stand behind an enemy and inspect the combat log at very close range.
- If you see a parry or block, step back slightly while remaining behind the target.
- Attack again and compare the log. Blizzard has not given a fix date.
