Hunters clarify how the summoned hawk deals damage
creates a separate creature after the first hit. Look for Hawk attacks in the combat log or damage meter. The extra-pull and scaling reports still need repeat tests.
Status: No fix has been announced. New replies clarify the test method but do not show that the original problems affect all Hunters.
Updated What changed
The Forever spell record and player replies clarify that the first hit summons a separate hawk. Added steps to inspect its attacks and limits of the scaling and pet-command reports.
Description
On October 6, two Hunters reported separate problems: hawks pulled unrelated dungeon enemies, and the damage after the first hit did not change with gear. New forum replies clarify the mechanic. The linked Forever spell record says the first hit summons a hawk. Players Oberon and DePhoegon saw the hawk's separate attacks in a damage meter. It is a creature, not a damage-over-time effect on the target. In a new October 7 reply, RiPDiedTV said pet commands can control the hawk, but another participant had said the opposite. Command behavior and stat scaling for later attacks remain unverified.
Effect
Check the first hit and the summoned hawk's attacks separately. If the meter shows only the first hit, inspect the combat log and see whether the creature died. In a dungeon, watch whether it moves toward another pack.

How to reproduce it
- As a Hunter with from level 25, target one enemy away from other packs and cast the ability. The Forever description allows up to two hawks for 18 seconds.
- Record the first hit separately from the creature's Hawk attacks in the combat log or pet damage meter. If later hits are absent, check whether the hawk is alive and where it moves.
- Compare attacks on the same target before and after changing Ranged Attack Power gear. Include the build and combat log in a report. Test pet commands separately: player accounts disagree.
What players report

Saw hawk damage as a separate meter entry. The short fight does not establish overall talent damage.

Said the first hit spawns a separate creature that attacks and can die.

At 16:15 MSK on October 7, reported that pet commands work on hawks. Another participant disagrees, so this remains unverified.
