Warrior Rage in the new build: higher crit gain, hit bug unclear

Blizzard fixed incoming-damage calculations: player Stamina should no longer reduce gains and absorption should be ignored in the calculation. Values were rebalanced around 20-40% armor depending on level. New players still report differing physical and spell-hit results, so actual behavior needs testing.

Updated What changed

Blizzard fixed incoming-damage calculations: player Stamina should no longer reduce gains and absorption should be ignored in the calculation. Values were rebalanced around 20-40% armor depending on level. New players still report differing physical and spell-hit results, so actual behavior needs testing.

Earlier updates

A later Kaivax clarification sets critical basic attack gain at 100% more. Noted conflicting official statements about dual-wield hit chance.

Aidan Moon revised the critical-hit bonus to 100% and reported a dual-wield talent bug that applied 10% hit to all attacks.

Blizzard announced that critical hits will grant 75% more than normal hits. The change is not yet confirmed live in the beta.

Description

Blizzard fixed incoming-damage calculations: player Stamina should no longer reduce gains and absorption should be ignored in the calculation. Values were rebalanced around 20-40% armor depending on level. New players still report differing physical and spell-hit results, so actual behavior needs testing. Before the update: The shield rule remains: an incoming hit can grant through a friendly shield, while hitting an enemy shield that absorbs all damage grants none. The build 1.60.1.70170 notes first list +75% for a critical basic attack, then add a correction to +100%. Kaivax’s later post confirms +100%. The same notes say the dual-wield talent hit bug was fixed but still list it under known issues. Its actual status needs an in-game test.

Effect

Compare normal and critical basic attacks again with the same weapon after updating. Do not draw conclusions about dual wielding from older hit tests.

How to reproduce it

  1. Do not remove a useful friendly shield solely to generate .
  2. Use the combat log to compare from normal and critical basic attacks with one weapon. Blizzard’s latest correction says a critical hit should grant twice as much.
  3. Check main-hand and off-hand hit separately when dual wielding. Blizzard’s notes both claim a fix and retain the bug in known issues.

Further conditions

  • October 2: Blizzard announced +100% from critical basic attacks in the deployed build. Its notes conflict on the dual-wield hit bug, so that status remains unverified.
