Gamepad buttons disappear: player describes a character-screen workaround
Several authors discuss a missing button cluster. One restores it by toggling the gamepad interface before entering the world.
Status: Author build omitted. No editorial reproduction on current build 70374. A fix is not confirmed.

Description
, the controller interface, sometimes stops displaying its button cluster. Nerfed says actions still work but labels are missing. Kalfou describes the same missing cluster and a workaround: log out to character selection, turn the gamepad interface off and on, then log in. This is not a guaranteed fix. On October 15 at 15:51 UTC, Chombi independently reported a missing layout after staying logged out for more than a moment. Logging out and back in restores it for this author. They link the start to last week’s update but omit the build number. This is another temporary workaround report, not confirmation of a common cause. Later, Kalfou created a new layout in place of the old one and had not seen the cluster disappear again. They did not move the button cluster in Edit Mode in the new layout. This is one author’s check, not proof that moving the cluster causes the bug. Keep the existing layout for comparison before trying a separate new one.
Effect
The check does not require deleting saved settings. Regular action bars and the controller cluster behave differently, so specify which disappeared.
How to reproduce it
- Save a screenshot of the missing cluster and the active layout name.
- Log out to character selection. Turn the gamepad interface off and on in the menu, then log in.
- Check the original layout. Nerfed says returning to their saved layout hides buttons again. If it repeats, attach the layout, Lua error and build.
